If you are visiting Dholera SIR to view land, you can add one or two nearby stops. The closest is Lothal, a 4,500-year-old Harappan port site, followed by Nalsarovar (a bird sanctuary), Salangpur Dham (a pilgrimage temple) and Velavadar (a blackbuck national park). Distances below are approximate, so check them on a map for your starting point. Dholera SIR Dholera SIR

Lothal: The Harappan Port

Lothal is in Ahmedabad district, about 80 km south-west of Ahmedabad. The Archaeological Survey of India says Lothal had the world’s earliest known dock, which connected the city to an ancient course of the Sabarmati river. A site museum nearby displays Indus-era antiquities, and the site has been proposed for UNESCO World Heritage status. A large National Maritime Heritage Complex is being built nearby. A July 2026 report describes it as a ₹4,000-crore project spread over 375 acres, with a maritime museum of about 7 lakh sq ft and 14 galleries, whose first phase was expected to be inaugurated within weeks. We could not confirm the current opening status, so check before you plan around it.

Nalsarovar: The Wetland Bird Sanctuary

Nalsarovar is Gujarat’s largest wetland bird sanctuary, roughly 78 km from Dholera. It is best known for migratory birds in winter. If your visit is between October and March, it can be a pleasant add-on, though the exact season for birds varies by year. Distances are approximate.

Salangpur Dham: A Pilgrimage Stop

Salangpur Dham is a well-known Hanuman temple in Botad district, roughly 85 km from Dholera. It suits visitors who want a pilgrimage stop on a longer trip. Check opening times and crowd levels, especially on weekends and festival days.

Velavadar Blackbuck National Park

Velavadar is a grassland national park about 110 km from Dholera, known for blackbuck. It is the farthest stop in this group, so it suits an extra day rather than a quick detour.

Dholera Smart City: What to Look at on the Ground

The region itself has sights that matter more to a buyer than tourist attractions. On a site visit, consider seeing:

  • The road to the plot, and its condition on the day.
  • The Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway, which is reported to have opened in 2026.
  • The surroundings of the Activation Area, if you can arrange access.
  • The nearest village, to understand daily services today.

Our guide on Dholera to Ahmedabad distance and time covers routes, exits and travel tips for the drive itself.

Three Sample Circuits

These are sketches, not tour packages. Adjust them to your timing. A half-day add-on. Visit your plot, then Lothal on the way back toward Ahmedabad. A full day. Plot visit in the morning, Lothal after lunch, and the Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway home. A weekend. Day one: Dholera and Lothal. Day two: Nalsarovar and Salangpur, returning via Ahmedabad. Add Velavadar only if you have an extra day.

Practical Tips for a Site Visit

  • Start early. Summers are hot, and the region is flat and exposed.
  • Check the season. The monsoon can affect roads and access, so ask about conditions before you travel.
  • Carry the layout plan, the plot number and your documents, so you can compare the ground with the drawing.
  • Measure the real road distance from the plot to the places you care about.
  • Keep sightseeing separate from decision-making. Do not let a pleasant day replace a document check.
  • Check fuel, water and food on the route, since services thin out away from main towns.

Which Stop Fits Which Visitor?

  • History lovers: Lothal.
  • Bird watchers: Nalsarovar in winter.
  • Families on a pilgrimage: Salangpur.
  • Wildlife enthusiasts: Velavadar.
  • Buyers with limited time: Lothal only, or none.
